Coach Averi Firari
Averi's passion for endurance sports came at the early age of 12 after running on the South Middle School Cross Country team in Wisconsin. After a few successful years in running spikes, she discovered cross country mountain biking, and soon after began racing the Wisconsin Off Road Series where she quickly climbed the ranks to Category 1 prior to leaving for Air Force Basic Training in 2010.
After basic training, she continued to race while balancing a demanding Protective Services career out of Andrews Air Force Base. In 2013 she was selected for the US Armed Forces Cycling team to compete in the Military World Cycling Championships in Leopoldsburg Belgium where she rode to a top 10 finish in her first international race. In 2014 she was accepted into the Air Force World Class Program, and between 2014-2016 Averi competed in 7 international races including representing the US as a National Team Member on 4 occasions in UCI Mountain Bike World Cups. |
In 2018 after 7 years of Active Duty she decided to separate from the Air Force in pursuit of a Kinesiology and Exercise Science degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia. Averi graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology in May of 2021 and is now attending the JMU Graduate School for a Master’s in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Physiology. Averi has numerous wins and podiums in Mountain Bike XC and Marathon disciplines; cyclocross, and road racing, and offers unlimited enthusiasm for cycling and for helping others succeed. She always strives to keep workouts fun, fresh, creative and challenging!
